Recycling
The UK is gradually being overwhelmed by a growing amount of waste. However, many materials currently being discarded can be reused, recovered and recycled for the benefit of all. Alternatives to landfill have never been more necessary or desirable than at present.
Studies have estimated that the waste disposal costs of a business can amount to a significant percentage of total outgoings. By taking steps, such as sorting waste at source, businesses can reduce costs. Protecting the environment need not be a luxury that few can afford!
A very informative website, Recycle Now, covering all matters of recyling in the UK is produced by WRAP, (Waste & Resources Action Programme) the government-funded body that advises on such matters.
Free No-Obligation Waste Audits
An effective waste management company can advise on implementing plans to minimise waste and make the disposal of more environmentally-friendly and cost-effective. DTS Environmental can readily carry out free waste audits, with no obligation, working with you to improve waste management procedures. Please contact us for further details. Following the audit, we can advise on practical methods to carry out waste minimisation and/or recycling plans, diverting as much waste from landfill as possible. This procedure reduces both costs and environmental harm caused by waste.
Since 30 October 2007, new rules laid down by the Environment Agency as a consequence of the EU Landfill Directive mean that untreated waste can no longer be sent to landfill. This means that businesses must either take steps to treat their own waste, or trust in waste management companies to properly treat and dispose of their waste. For further information on the Landfill Directive and the definition of treated/untreated waste, the Environment Agency publishes a factsheet, "Your Waste - Your Responsibility."
DTS Environmental is fully licensed and qualified to receive, transport, purchase and broker all forms of waste. With our extensive contacts in the international reprocessing industry, we are capable of ensuring that all possibly recoverable material is salvaged from the waste stream.
